Medical Missions

2023 Mission Takes Largest Team Ever!

This was the largest team ever - and with many logistical and government challenges, we appreciated every single volunteer's dedication and time. It was also a special trip as Dr. Don & Nelda Falknor were able to return to San Miguel after a long fight with medical challenges.

Dr. Chris Browning, Dr. Javier Lafontaine, Dr. Jim & Liz Kutchback and Dr. Steve Brancheau, along with Dr. Maria Buitrago, Dr. Paul Brancheau and Dr. Dale Lane, have stepped in to help lead and keep the mission efforts going. Dr. Browning took on a huge role this year to head up coordination, scheduling and logistics with Krista Richter. THANK YOU TO ALL!

We were able to sponsor 13 residents to attend with the help of generous mission travel sponsors – Sagis DX, Your Total Footcare Specialists (Katy, TX), Dr. Jason Miller and Richie’s Specialty Pharmacy. We also thank Bill Harris & Howard Hayes for their continued support to provide a beautiful volunteer dinner and also donate proceeds from their jewelry boutique for the mission.

This year, we were able to treat 520 patients in clinic, provide 28 corrective surgeries, provide over 500 orthotics thanks to Forward Motion partners and provide shoes and medical screening for 2 orphanages. Thank you to our Mexico partners: Dr. Roberto Maxwell, DIF, San Miguel Mayor’s office and Hospital Joya. Special thanks to Crossroads Extremity, Andy Ruggles & Dr. Patrick Briggs for sponsoring the much-needed additions for surgical equipment. Thank you to Hunt Regional, West Houston & Kingwood Residency Programs for loaning their surgical power equipment. The residents worked very hard, and their comments include:

“This was a trip of a lifetime.”

“We were so happy to be able to go and have this experience.”

“I never imagined how many patients we would see or different pathologies. It is a great experience to learn from many attendees.”

“I hope to be able to come back and help support this great charity effort in the future.”

THANK YOU TO EVERYONE for helping make a difference to these people in need!
